Come Visit Market Bay!

Market Bay app icon

Welcome to Market Bay, an immersive game world where students are buying and selling objects, crafting paint, and decorating their apartments. Spanning grades K-5, this app is comprehensive. We’re teaching kids base 10 in the way we actually use it. You need to make things, buy them, figure out how much money you have left, etc.

Market Bay gives kids the opportunity to have an apartment and decorate it, to run a store, and make financial decisions. Children love the authenticity of Market Bay, which keeps them immersed in learning and doing math. Every paint they make and every couch they sell represents time spent deeply engaged.

The cash register supports children’s understanding of place value and helps them relate operations to real-world mathematics. Once proficient at reading the register, it closes so kids can focus on completing the operations, without being able to see the answer in the register. Carefully designed scaffolds help children learn how to regroup with fun animations.

Daily quests keep children engaged in completing new activities. After several quests, the paint store opens up so kids can craft paint by mixing a recipe of colors through an engaging addition mini-game. They can use the paint and furniture they’ve purchased to decorate and personalize their apartments any way they like.

We hope you and your students love this game as much as we do! We have even more big plans for this app, so please share feedback, ideas for more mini-games, other content you’d like to see covered, etc. Happy playing!
